Hi, I’m Marilee!

I’m a homeschooling mama of five, wife, and the voice behind A Gathered Life.
For the past 17 years, I’ve been building a life at home — full of learning, laughter, messes, and moments I never want to forget (and a few I’d like to!).

I like to travel, go for long rides, the beach and a Coke Zero is my best friend. I’m in the process of rediscovering hobbies after all these years of pouring into my kiddos. It’s been fun, but I’m definitely not sure I can say what my hobbies are yet. 🙂

This space was born out of one of the hardest seasons of my life — when I lost my dad just weeks after my fifth baby was born. And then it just kept going.

I unraveled. And I mean, un.raveled. I stopped doing everything and it has taken me 6 years to slowly pull everything back in and under control. But I knew that life wasn’t just going to go back to the way it was. And I knew that I probably wouldn’t be the same as I was. I wanted to do it better. And that’s where I am now. Not perfect-not at all. I don’t have all the answers, but I know what helped me and I know what didn’t. And if I can help anybody coming out a dark time in their life, that would make me so happy.

If I could pull up chairs and have people on my front porch, I would love that. So, consider this my virtual porch. I hope there is SOMETHING that you need here.
